Electrical Plans

Boaz, our contractor, created an initial plan for where the electrical outlets and lighting could and should go, while simultaneously telling us that this was a very generous lighting plan and one that could be scaled down.

Scott reviewed the electrical plans and made adjustments by adding, removing, and moving lighting as well as electrical outlets. In designing a custom home, you can have the opportunity to place additional outlets in places of preference such as if you would like to have an outlet in the floor for standing lamps in the future.

I love natural light and almost always have my drapes or blinds open with the natural light coming in. Because of our love of natural light and the outdoors, the house was built with many windows to let the light in. For my personal preferences, I assumed I would not be using many electrical lights in the daytime due to our use of large windows and because of the sunny climate in Dallas. This has been proven to be true, and we love the natural light we experience in our home!

The benefit of building a custom home is that you can make your own decisions on how little or how much lighting you prefer based on your lifestyle and preferences!

We used the 4” size recessed lighting as opposed to the 6” sized lighting. Even though the 6” is recommended for larger rooms and higher ceilings, we still chose to go with the 4” size. I can say that I am happy with the amount of light the 4” recessed lighting provides even in a large space, and I do like the way they look on the ceiling.
